Before turmeric becomes a pantry staple, it belongs to soil, season, and place.
VIROOT Lakadong Turmeric comes from Meghalaya, a region known for turmeric with a deep golden colour and warm earthy character. It is carefully selected for everyday Indian cooking — from dal and sabzi to kadha, milk, pickles, and spice blends.
This is not a generic yellow powder. It is turmeric with origin, memory, and a clear sense of place.

Lakadong is not a brand name — it is a cluster of villages in the West Jaintia Hills of Meghalaya, where this cultivar has been grown by Pnar farmers for generations. Independent assays place its curcumin between 7% and 12%, two to four times ordinary turmeric. GI-tagged, because the variety cannot be faithfully reproduced outside this terrain.
A small pinch is enough. Bloom in warm oil or ghee before adding aromatics — the colour deepens, the bitterness softens, and the room begins to smell of root and earth.
Dispatched within 1–2 working days. Free delivery across India on orders above ₹999. Store away from light, steam, and the stove — aroma belongs in the jar, until the pan.
